DOG EAT DOG – A FLASHBACK JOURNEY INTO THE PAST
Set in Arizona in the early 1980s, this is a nostalgic and sharply comic coming-of-age story about a young man’s golden year at college – and its untimely end. Dog Eat Dog combines the bohemian spirit of On the Road with the adolescent angst of Catcher in the Rye and will appeal to fans of movies like Dazed and Confused.
Dog Eat Dog follows eighteen-year-old Ted Diamond, whose dream of returning to the University of Arizona for his sophomore year is shattered when he is forced to drop out to support his family financially. Back home in the suburbs, Ted grapples with envy and resentment as he watches his friends and roommates continue their academic journeys without him. From his childhood bedroom, Ted takes up his journal and recounts his one golden year at college – the music, drugs and partying, as well as the hard-won freedom and self-discovery. Woven throughout are Ted’s wry observations about the stark differences between his upbringing and that of his affluent peers, all set against the vibrant backdrop of the Arizona desert.
