This is one woman’s story about living with abuse; physical, sexual, emotional and psychological, at the hands of her partner of seventeen years. The book has been written partly as narrative but primarily using actual diary entries spanning the period 1985-2003. The entries provide an insight into my daily life and allow a ‘voyeur’s’ perspective of living with domestic violence. The book’s objective is to drive home how imperative it is to leave an abuser early into a relationship before the damage from exposure to violence becomes so problematic that it requires years of professional help to rectify. This story is important for all ages and cultures as the content relates to individuals experiencing abuse; their families, the general public and those working in social services.
